3M Reflectivity Levels

During daylight hours there is barely any  discernable difference between the various types of 3M Reflective materials above.  However the image above shows the vast difference between the engineer grade on the left, the high intensity prismatic in the middle and the diamond grade prismatic on the right.  The difference is dramatic.  The most common choice for public roads and dangerous intersections is clear.  3M Diamond Grade is the winner here.

prefix suffix placement options

Our single-sided street name signs are available in two heights:  6″ high which accommodates a 4″ legend, and 9″ high which accommodates a 6″ legend.  For official or novelty use, these signs meet MUTCD Compliance Standards.

Flat blade signs are constructed of .080 alodine treated aluminum with 3/4″ radius corners.

All signs are available in High Intensity Prismatic (HIP) – ASTM Type III, ASTM Type IV.

For local roads with speed limits up to 25 mph the smaller 6″ signs will suit your project.  If you are looking for street name signs for roads that have speed limits over 25 mph, you will want to use the 9″ high option.

Street name signs have an MUTCD Designation of D3-1.  For official uses, you will want to select either the green, blue, white (with black letters) or brown background signs.

Outsmart the Dark with 3M Diamond Grade DG3 Reflective Sheeting

Using science to turn black spots into bright spots.  Black spots are places where the number of crashes is higher than average. Often the reason for black spots is the physical configuration of the road or intersection, such as:
• Sharp corners in a straight road, concealing oncoming traffic
• Hills or winding roads that limit visibility ahead
• Hidden junctions and intersections
• Poor or concealed warning signs
